The TP-LINK TL-SG105 is a fantastic little unit. My previous experience with Gigabit switches comes in the way of two 8-port Linksys units however, when given the opportunity to try something new, I couldn't resist. I greatly enjoy the performance of this little unit. I decided that to best test the unit, I should employ it within my office environment. Being a developer who also does a lot of SQL Server management, the ability to quickly move large files quickly is very important. I have thrown tons of data through this unit over the past week or so and it has not glitched once. Transfer speeds are lightning quick and right up there where one would expect them to be for a Gigabit switch. The size of the unit contributes greatly to my appreciation of it. The thing is tiny --even smaller than comparable units from other manufacturers. Not only is the unit a small form factor which can easily be tucked away mounted to the underside of a desk, it is also in a metal case as opposed to plastic. As such, the case acts as a heatsink --dissipating heat in such an efficient manner that even after a few hours of hammering multi-GB database backups back and forth between servers, the thing is barely even warm. The fact that it is unmanaged simplifies the unit quite a bit. This is great since you simply plug it into your network and add devices. There is no configuration necessary, quite literally plug and play. I had the unit set up in < 2 minutes.

Purchased to replace an 8-port switch and to uprade my network. I love this switch, power save feature is great, ports not in use are not powered. Perfect for a small business or home network.

Great product with upgradeable POE settings. Has 3 settings that can be adjusted for your needs when paired with a larger (same voltage) power supply.

-Whisper quite -Many Features -Web GUI or phone app to manage it -You have to know what your doing or at least read the manual.

Fast, well constructed, easy to use, just like any other quality switch I have owned (I have at least 6 1G ones in my house). Hopefully the power plug holds up, that's really the only weak point on the 1G switches.

Has wall mounting slots on the back so you can attach it to a vertical surface

This is a great switch. The older hardware revision didn't include a web interface. It had to be managed using a Windows client installed somewhere on your network. Version 2 of the hardware supports a newer version of the firmware that does include a web interface. The switch I received still had the older firmware preinstalled, but upgrading is a simple process.

I'm new to the Ubiquity ecosystem.. But after having used routers and switches from Netgear, TP-Link, QNap, Eero, Asus, and some others I care not to remember, every single piece of Unifi gear stands heads and shoulders above the rest. Just the user interface along justifies going with Unifi. None of the above can touch them with a 10-foot pole. This switch has everything you could want on a POE+ powered switch with five 10 GbE ports (RJ45 mind you) and a 1 GbE POE port. It integrated into my network in seconds, and automatically showed up. So easy to manage.

I really like this switch. It has all the great management features you would want, the GUI makes sense, VLANs work as expected, it has POE, and it's got a great slim form factor for wall mounting and getting it out of the way. Comes with the screws necessary to wall mount as well.

Works as advertised and had no issues with autonegotiating speeds on interfaces with Google Fiber's provided equipment (an issue I had read about in reviews for other boxes which I was concerned about). Get full speed.
